Is it possible to taste like burgundy?
I cannot think over the scribbling of my writing
Where have we gotten to? Where will we go…
When the leaves grow back and the sun melts the snow?
‘Cause you are a tree that I’d sure like to climb
And you’re constant and rhythmic like a good nursery rhyme
You have your beautiful branches and my feet are bare
And the wind tickles my skin and it blows through my hair
So I’ll pull myself to the top and close my eyes
I’m your itsy-bitsy spider and you are my sweet guy
So, is it possible to taste like burgundy?
Or am I naïve to consider myself ready?
‘Cause I already know where I’d like to go
Where behind the tree is shade and beautiful things grow
‘Cause I am a garden that was planted just for you
And I have my sunflowers, but snap-dragons too
I have my blossoming moments when your feet are bare
And the wind tickles your skin and it blows through your hair
So when the sun shines brightly, you can come and see me
And I’ll be your garden and also your lady
Here in my garden, there’s a space reserved for you
With the humming of the bees and caterpillars too
Be glorious with the sun and then sleepy with the moon
Just wait for the spring when I’ll be in full bloom

I first discovered Kirstyn's music YEARS AGO, before I knew what wrock was. This album is polished and poignant, and I love the original songs just as much as the wrock! All the harmonies are gorgeous. My favourite song has to be the spookiest, with its atmosphere of tension and the juxtaposition of darkness and triumph reflected in the style and lyrics. Kirstyn has such clever turns of phrase in her songwriting that make this album memorable and delightful. Susannah

This album is exactly what it says on the tin, because sad songs are Grace's speciality. But that doesn't mean it's lacking variety or range. Here are 11 songs about loss, frustration, helplessness, fear, judgement, insight, empathy and love. Listen to them again and again, because you will discover something new every time. Susannah
